Always Raney: Juliet Elise at Six Months

Six months old! My sweet little baby is six months old! In some ways, I have been waiting for this day. Six months is a milestone and makes me feel like we made it through the newborn stage (which is not my favorite as awful as that sounds). But of course now that the day is actually here, it's sad!

This month we turned a corner on sleeping. Juliet puts herself to sleep on her own in her crib and sleeps for longer spurts. She wakes 1-2 times per night to nurse, and I'm hoping we can cut that down to a consistent 1 nurse and then taper it off as she grows. Six months without a full night of sleep has been a challenge physically and emotionally, but Juliet's sweet and easy smiles give me fuel to press on. We tried baby cereal and food recently, and she wanted no part of it! Our pediatrician says not to force it and just try again in a week or two.

I still can't believe just how HARD it is to be a mom. Being on call 24 hours a day, physical, dirty labor, constant attention, and just overall responsibility. That being said, being a mom is the most fulfilling and amazing thing I have ever done and thank God everyday that He chose me to be the mother of my sweet girls. I definitely have heightened appreciation for my own mother, my sisters, and all my fellow moms who daily give of themselves in this way.
