Scarlet Hope at Eleven Months

Scarlet Hope is 11 months old! Not sure how we arrived here so quickly, but here we are. She continues to be the sweetest, most content of all my babies, and we all find her quite entertaining. She is into EVERYTHING and is actually very stealthy for someone so small. She loves to eat, explore the house, unroll toilet paper, remove ziploc bags from their boxes, and crawl to the edge of a stairway and watch your reaction. She is standing for short periods of time, but hasn't yet taken her first steps! We love her so!

Today being Good Friday, I would be remiss if I did not talk about the meaning of this little girl's name. Scarlet Hope - she was born near Easter last year, and while we love the way her name "coordinates" with our other daughters, we love even more that her name symbolizes the gospel. Jesus' blood is the reason for our hope. His sacrifice on the cross is what gives us reason to live, to breathe, to have joy. How grateful we are for God sending his only son to save us from our sin and the darkness of a life without Christ.

"To be without hope is to declare ourselves to be without God;
to be without God is to live inevitably without hope." - Alistair Begg

Scarlet Hope at Ten Months

Ok seriously, how is our littlest girl 10 months old? This girl is just as sweet as can be. She is so content and cheerful. We love her to pieces! This month, she has definitely grown up. She stands without assistance, she walks with the help of a walker toy, and she says "mama" and sings! She has started going up the stairs by herself! We expect her to be walking in no time. She adores her sisters and loves watching them play and loves even more when they talk to her and play with her. Her sisters are mutually in love with her, too. We celebrated Scarlet's first Valentine's Day with flowers and cupcakes. She seemed to enjoy her bite of sweet! She still prefers to feed herself whatever she is given, and rarely takes a spoon from anyone. It's both frustrating and awesome at the same time. What a little independent girl!
